Job summary

The State of Washington DCYF seeks a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2 to join our Richland team. You will provide trauma-informed aftercare and reentry services to youth under supervision, coordinating with families, parole and CTS partners.

You will conduct assessments to determine risk and level of care, model pro-social behavior, and collaborate with JRC1, JR Specialists, and other JRC2s while supporting future planning and community transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in related fields.
• One year as a Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor Assistant (JRCA) or Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 1 (JRC1).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Responsibilities

• Provide aftercare services to youth on supervision and their families to support transition and reentry, while adhering to established parole aftercare and CTS.
• Conduct interviews and administer/interpret assessments to determine risk, required level of care/supervision, and referral for indicated treatment services; prepares youth and their families for youth transition back to the community.
• Model pro-social adaptive behavior and assess youth behavior for risk to self or community and refer for treatment services using standardized assessment and the Risk-Need-Responsivity principles.
• Collaborate with Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 1s (JRC1), Juvenile Rehabilitation Specialists (JR Specialists), and other Juvenile Rehabilitation Counselor 2s (JRC2s).
• Participate in Future Planning and attend Future Planning Meetings when a youth is admitted to JR, during the CTS evaluation period and when a youth is released from residential supervision.
• Develop family service plans in consultation with families and services providers within the context of the JR Integrated Treatment Model and prioritizes treatment targets.
• Work with families in their home environment to assess needs and support successful transition of youth.
• Network and communicate effectively with a variety of groups, organizations, and agencies, including law enforcement, courts, schools, treatment providers, tribes and other social services and juvenile justice treatment professionals.
