Job summary

CVOEO is seeking a Housing Advocate at Samaritan House Shelter to provide client-centered, trauma-informed support for emergency housing clients and others experiencing homelessness. The role helps clients secure housing and access benefits, and refers people to medical, mental health and substance use services.

The position includes supervising the daytime drop-in center, flexible schedule based on business needs, and some local travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social or human services or equivalent education/experience.
• Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment.
• Knowledge of homelessness, affordable housing, poverty and economic justice.
• Direct advocacy experience with housing/economic insecurity preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel within the CVOEO service area.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, trauma-informed housing advocacy.
• Assist clients to secure housing and access benefits.
• Refer clients to medical, mental health and substance use services.
• Collaborate with community partners to address housing barriers.
• Oversee daytime drop-in center and address basic needs.
