Job summary

CVOEO in Champlain Place seeks a part-time Housing Advocate to provide trauma-informed, client-centered support for emergency housing clients and those facing homelessness.

You will help clients secure housing, access benefits, and refer to employment, medical and mental health services while coordinating with community partners.

The role involves flexible hours, some local travel, and collaboration to remove housing barriers and empower clients toward stable housing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in social or human services or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Knowledge of homelessness causes, affordable housing, poverty and economic justice.
• Direct experience in advocacy and services for housing- and income-insecure individuals.
• Effective verbal and written communication; bilingual is a plus.
• Valid driver's license, clean driving record and reliable transportation; willingness to travel within the CVOEO service area.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
• Ability to uphold safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, trauma-informed support to emergency housing clients.
• Assist clients to access benefits and referrals to employment, medical, mental health and SUD services.
• Collaborate with community partners to address housing barriers.
• Empower clients and follow up after successful housing placement.
