Job summary

Our Lady's Inn in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a part-time Family Support Advocate to work with residential clients, providing supervision and activities to families.

The role models healthy interaction and uses trauma-informed approaches to encourage positive mother-child dynamics. The position requires evenings and weekends, a Bachelor’s or Associate’s in Social Work, 3+ years in trauma-informed settings, strong organization and communication, and valid driving with insurance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (or related field) with at least 1 year in a trauma-informed setting; or an Associate’s with continuing education.
• 3+ years’ experience in social services in a trauma-informed environment; knowledge of trauma-informed care; experience with motivational interviewing and de-escalation.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and computer/database skills; detail-oriented; team player.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with current vehicle insurance.
• Physical ability to climb stairs and lift up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Establish professional therapeutic relationships with clients.
• Use trauma-informed language and methods with clients and staff.
• Orient new clients to house procedures, programs, expectations, and responsibilities.
• Conduct phone screening of potential clients and make referrals as needed.
• Work cooperatively as part of a team with all staff.
• Maintain open communication with supervisor and other staff members.
• Assist clients in achieving their goals as requested.
• Ensure the safety and security of the building and follow safety protocols.
• Record pertinent shift activities in the logbook.
• Adhere to Handbook policies (curfew, meals, etc.).
• Provide transportation in the Our Lady’s Inn vehicle when needed.
• Record donations dropped off at the Inn.
• Inspect completed household tasks and support residents who need help.
• Attend monthly all-staff meetings.
• Provide input to program staff regarding client interactions and needed resources.
• Collaborate with case managers to support client goal achievement.
• Collaborate with Child Advocate on child-centered activities.
• Ensure medication storage/observation policies are followed.
• Perform client drug screening as directed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
