Job summary

University of Missouri, St. Louis is seeking a Mental Health Professional to provide strength-based advocacy for non-offending caregivers throughout forensic services.

The role includes interviewing caregivers, conducting needs assessments, and coordinating referrals, with a focus on safety planning and trauma-informed support. You will participate in multidisciplinary teams, mentor practicum students, and stay current with child advocacy center practices.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in related/relevant area or equivalent combo of education and experience (minimum 1 year).
  • Master’s degree preferred in related/relevant area (preferred qualification).
  • Two years of practical experience in child protection and family advocacy with multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and advocacy services to non-offending caregivers, including screenings, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals.
  • Interview non-offending caregivers and document history, family functioning, trauma impact, and support needs.
  • Conduct needs assessments with caregivers to develop safety plans.
  • Identify and refer to community services, mental health, medical treatment, and other supports.
  • Educate caregivers about trauma impact and the child abuse investigation process.
  • Participate in and facilitate multidisciplinary case reviews and meetings.
  • Mentor practicum students and others in forensic services duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.
