Job summary

Nexus Family Recovery Center in Dallas provides medical detoxification services for individuals with substance use disorders. This role supports stabilization, conducts assessments, and guides clients through early steps of treatment in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The Detox Counselor uses motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, and individualized treatment planning, while ensuring accurate documentation and smooth transitions to lower levels of care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.
• Licensure as LMSC, LPC, or LMFT in Texas will be considered.
• LCDC or equivalent certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
• 1–3 years of experience in substance abuse treatment or behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and screenings upon admission.
• Conduct daily check-ins with clients focused on stabilization and motivation.
• Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups.
• Support clients in managing withdrawal symptoms and use motivational interviewing.
• Assist clients in developing individualized treatment plans and monitor progress.
• Prepare discharge plans and coordinate transitions to appropriate levels of care.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, case managers, and recovery support staff.
