Job summary

Deborah's Place is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide part-time, contractual OT support for Dolores' Safe Haven. You will assess barriers to participation and develop interventions to improve daily functioning within a trauma-informed framework.

You will work with 15 participants and collaborate with staff to promote engagement in community life. The role focuses on ADLs, goal planning, and increasing independence through tailored exercises and activities, with experience in

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy and an OT state license.
• Minimum 1 year of occupational therapy experience in a community mental health or similar setting; homelessness experience preferred.
• Knowledge of homelessness, mental illness and chemical dependency; strong communication and organizational skills; valid Illinois driver\'s license and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assess participants' functioning in community life and identify barriers to progress.
• Support participants in developing skills for independent ADLs, group participation, goal setting, and goal achievement.
• Work one-on-one with participants to identify challenges in daily activities and community participation.
• Aid participants in creating new approaches to engaging in community life.
• Work with residential manager and other staff to collect data about participants' engagement in daily activities and community life.
• Provide recommendations to help improve optimal functioning of individuals in the community of Dolores' Safe Haven and in the outside community.
