Job summary

The SAFE Alliance seeks a Children's Advocate for the Residential & Support Services program in the Children's Services department. The Advocate will support children in SAFE's Family Shelter, Community Shelter, and Supportive Housing, providing therapeutic, educational, and advocacy services in a trauma-informed setting.

With a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, you’ll work full-time in East Austin, with some travel and no remote option.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of parenting skills and child development in the Austin area.
• Ability to respond constructively to crisis situations with cultural sensitivity.
• Experience working in residential programs or with vulnerable children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement therapeutic, educational, social, and recreational programming for children.
• Coordinate psycho-educational groups and support services for children.
• Assess children's needs and refer to appropriate services; advocate for family support.
• Supervise and mentor volunteers and interns; support driving duties as needed.
• Engage with families to support children’s needs and ensure a safe environment.
