Job summary

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) – Child and Family Services Division – seeks a detail‑oriented professional to assist the Child Protection Specialist in delivering family‑centered services within a trauma‑informed system to assure safety, permanency, and well‑being for children at risk of or who have experienced maltreatment.

You will provide oral and written reports, schedule appointments, supervise visitations, and help document requirements to meet statutory

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of child development.
Basic knowledge of parenting skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Two years of social services work experience, or other directly-related work experience, working with children and families in difficult and sometimes volatile situations.
Experience working with tribal government entities and/or other organizations of native peoples is highly preferred.
Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

Providing oral and written reports to the Child Protection Specialists regarding contacts with children and families in an effort to achieve positive outcomes.
Schedules and coordinates appointments and meetings.
Supervises and documents parent/child interactions during visitations.
Assists in meeting documentation requirements to assure compliance with statutory and policy requirements regarding safety, permanency, and well-being.
