Job summary

Healthy Start Inc. in Pittsburgh seeks a compassionate doula to provide in-person prenatal, birth, and postpartum support.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and centers the experiences of Black women and families within Allegheny County. As part of the team, you will support program participants with education, timely communication, and on-call birth assistance while documenting all services and participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Must be a trained doula or committed to completing a doula education training program.
• Must demonstrate passion for maternal and child health and understanding of health disparities.
• Must understand birth work within the Black community with cultural humility.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person prenatal, birth and postpartum support that is trauma-informed, culturally responsive and centers the lived experiences of Black women and families.
• Support a positive customer service experience and timeliness of communication for all participants.
• Provide ongoing education and support to Healthy Start participants and community.
• Provide on-call or emergency birth support on occasion to birth doula clients.
• Ensure documentation of all service provision.
• Attend mandatory meetings and trainings for skill building and professional development.
