Job summary

Child and Youth Advocacy Center is seeking a Mental Health Advocate to provide trauma-focused therapy for children and non-offending caregivers. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, intake, case management, and coordination within a team-based approach.

Role requires a master’s degree in related field with licensure or eligibility; experience with trauma and family systems is preferred. Some remote work is available; primarily in-person work with CYAC.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field OR willingness to obtain within first year of employment.
• Licensure as an LCSW or LPC required OR license-eligible with supervision available.
• Experience with children who have experienced trauma (sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, witness to violence) preferred.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice, family systems, and knowledge of community resources preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient therapy using evidence-based modalities (e.g., TF-CBT, CFTSI, CCPT, expressive therapies).
• Participate in team-based outreach for new referrals and provide caregiver recommendations.
• Conduct initial intake sessions using trauma assessments and identify DSM-5 considerations.
• Provide crisis intervention for children and non-offending family members.
• Maintain electronic health records and coordinate ongoing contact with caregivers and professionals; provide referrals.
• Contribute to research and implementation of therapeutic interventions for trauma-affected children and families.
• Participate in a multidisciplinary team approach with CYAC staff and partners.
• Provide Family Advocacy Services for clients not needing mental health services at CYAC.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
