Job summary

Albany Med Health System in New York is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team in the Emergency Department, providing high‑level trauma and surgical coverage during peak hours.

You will work with attending surgeons, residents, and ACS APPs, perform ED consultations, procedures, wound care, coordinate discharges, and participate in quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Willing to audit or ATLS certified
• 1–2 years of relevant surgical or inpatient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider.
• Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical ACS APP providers.
• Perform ED consultations with comprehensive assessments for the ACS&CC service line.
• Perform procedures and wound care in the ED.
• Deliver care to boarded ACS&CC patients in the ED.
• Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.
• Coordinate patient discharges and arrange follow‑ups.
• Document encounters and procedures in the EMR.
• Communicate with patients, families, and team members.
