Job summary

Albany Med Health System in New York is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team, providing ED coverage during peak hours for trauma and surgical patients. You will collaborate with attending surgeons, residents, and the ACS&CC team to deliver high-quality care.

The role is a 1.0 FTE, scheduled Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM (mid-shift negotiable), with competitive benefits and opportunities for professional growth within a leading regional

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Willing to audit or ATLS certified.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in surgical or inpatient care preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider.
• Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers.
• Perform ED consultations with comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations for the ACS&CC service line.
• Perform procedures and wound care as required in the ED.
• Deliver care to patients of the ACS&CC division that are boarded in the ED.
• Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.
• Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged.
• Respond to ED ACS&CC consults and provide timely evaluations.
• Document encounters in the EMR.
• Communicate with patients, families, and team members.
• Partner with ACS & CC team members.
• Weekday or Weekend Shifts.
• Conduct one quality improvement project annually.
• Support education, research and quality missions.
• Contribute to care team meetings.
