Job summary

Albany Medical Center, part of Albany Med Health System, is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care team in the ED. The role focuses on trauma and surgical patient care during peak hours, collaborating with surgeons, residents, and other ACS&CC staff.

The position requires NYS licensure, NCCPA certification, and BLS/ACLS; prior surgical or inpatient experience is preferred. Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM, full-time.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Willing to audit or ATLS certified.

Responsibilities

• Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider.
• Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers.
• Perform ED consultations with comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations for the ACS&CC service line.
• Perform procedures and wound care as required in the ED.
• Deliver care to patients of the ACS&CC division that are boarded in the ED.
• Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.
• Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged.
• Document all clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the EMR.
