Job summary

Albany Med Health System seeks a Physician Assistant to join the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care team in the ED, supporting trauma and surgical patients during peak hours. You will collaborate with surgeons, residents, and ACS&CC staff to deliver high-quality, efficient care.

The role requires NYS licensure, NCCPA certification, BLS/ACLS, and 1–2 years of surgical or inpatient experience. A supportive environment offers professional growth, education, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Willing to audit or ATLS certified.
• 1–2 years of surgical or inpatient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent ACS&CC in the Emergency Department as a provider.
• Provide back up for inpatient ACS APPs on the floor.
• Perform ED assessments, histories, and physical exams for ACS&CC patients.
• Deliver ED procedures and wound care as needed.
• Coordinate discharges and arrange follow-up care.
• Respond to Level 3 traumas with trauma consults.
• Document encounters accurately in the EMR.
• Contribute to care team meetings and quality initiatives.
