Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join the Acute Care Surgery team at High Point Medical Center in High Point, North Carolina. This full-time role offers practice in emergency general surgery and trauma in both inpatient and outpatient settings, with first assist opportunities in the operating room.

The position is hybrid, with a Monday–Friday schedule and weekly evening call rotation, including weekend call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Eligible for or current North Carolina Physician Assistant licensure.
• Ability to obtain medical staff privileges at High Point Medical Center.
• Interest or experience in Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, or Surgical Critical Care.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage EGS and trauma surgery patients across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and formulate treatment plans.
• Collaborate with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Serve as first assist during surgical procedures.
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
• Participate in evening and weekend call rotation schedules.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and follow-up care.
