Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate heat treating furnaces, quench tanks and tempering ovens.
• Follow process specifications to achieve required hardness.

• Load/unload parts and maintain production logs and records.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and uphold safety protocols.

About the Role:

Vulcan Tools in Hingham, MA is looking for a skilled Heat Treater to join our manufacturing team. Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor heat treating equipment including furnaces, quench tanks, and tempering ovens
• Follow heat treatment specifications and process parameters to achieve required material hardness and metallurgical properties
• Inspect and test treated parts using hardness testing equipment to verify quality standards
• Load and unload parts, fixtures, and baskets safely and efficiently
• Maintain accurate production logs, batch records, and process documentation
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and report any malfunctions or irregularities
• Adhere to all safety protocols when handling high-temperature equipment and hazardous materials

Requirements:

• Prior experience in heat treating, metal hardening, or a related manufacturing environment preferred
• Familiarity with heat treatment processes such as annealing, quenching, tempering, and case hardening
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and process specifications
• Experience with hardness testing methods (Rockwell, Brinell) is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
• Ability to work in a high-heat industrial environment and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and a strong team player
