Job summary

The City of Gastonia is seeking dedicated Trash/Refuse Collectors for the Public Works Department. You will join a team that maintains cleanliness by collecting refuse and recyclable materials in a safe, efficient manner.

Starting pay is $17.5279 per hour. The role requires heavy physical work, good stamina, and the ability to follow directions while providing courteous service to residents and crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to perform continuous heavy manual work.

Responsibilities

• Manually collects carts and dumps into the rear loader trucks.
• Rakes, vacuums & removes leaves and brushes on City streets and curbs.
• Loads refuse onto trucks; cleans area around cans.
• Guides truck operator and watches for traffic, using hand signals as needed.
