Job description

Job Description

This role involves transporting patients, equipment, supplies, and lab specimens within the hospital. The transporter will assist patients with mobility and ensure a clean and safe environment by disinfecting equipment after use.

Responsibilities
  1. Transport patients safely and efficiently, assessing the best method for each individual.
  2. Communicate vital patient information with relevant team members.
  3. Meet individual productivity standards.
  4. Transport charts and specimens confidentially and efficiently.
  5. Maintain transportation equipment cleanliness and safety.
  6. Use the Epic Transportation Dispatching system effectively.
  7. Provide outstanding customer service aligned with Orlando Health's mission and values.
  8. Inform relevant departments of delays.
  9. Store equipment properly to prevent fire and safety hazards.
  10. Adjust oxygen flow and understand tank operations.
  11. Safely remove telemetry units from patients.
  12. Perform independent double verification using patient identifiers.
  13. Follow safety, dress code, attendance, and ID badge policies.
  14. Handle confidential information per HIPAA and handoff protocols.
  15. Collaborate effectively with team members to meet department needs.
  16. Assist in the disposition of deceased persons as per protocol.
  17. Distribute and retrieve clinical and durable medical equipment.
  18. Transport medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
  19. Perform additional duties as needed to support department operations.
  20. Maintain regular, punctual attendance and compliance with policies.
Qualifications
  • Education/Training: Ability to read, write simple correspondence, and use computer systems like Epic and Outlook.
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS/Healthcare Provider certification within 90 days of hire, renewed every two years.
  • Experience: Six months of customer service or volunteer experience preferred.
