Position Summary
This self-motivated team member must possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting with others in multiple departments and disciplines. The team member must communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and internal customers using appropriate scripting and engagement techniques.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Provide safe and efficient transport of patients to all hospital areas, assessing each patient to determine the most effective transport method.
- Communicate vital patient information with department managers, group leads, and other team members.
- Meet individual productivity standards established by the department.
- Transport charts and specimens confidentially and efficiently.
- Maintain all transportation equipment, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
- Use Allscripts Transport Tracking system effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrate outstanding customer service behavior supporting Orlando Health's mission, vision, and values.
- Inform customers, nursing units, and diagnostic departments of delays proactively.
- Prevent fire and safety hazards by storing equipment properly.
- Adjust liter flow and PSI in oxygen tanks; transfer oxygen regulators safely.
- Safely remove telemetry units from patients.
- Follow hospital and departmental policies regarding safety, dress code, attendance, punctuality, and ID display.
- Handle work-related information confidentially to maintain HIPAA compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet changing needs.
- Assist in distributing and retrieving clinical and orthopedic equipment, and maintain storage areas.
- Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance per Orlando Health policies and applicable standards.
- Comply with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Adhere to all safety standards, MSDS, and hygiene directives.
- Complete mandatory training and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Continuously seek to improve services and processes.

Qualifications
- Education/Training: Ability to read, recognize similarities/differences in words and numbers, write simple correspondence, and respond to inquiries. Must access and use department systems like TeleTracking, Outlook, and Allscripts.
- Licensure/Certification: BLS/Healthcare Provider certification by the American Heart Association, renewed every two years, if applicable.
- Experience: Experience in patient care or customer service roles.
