Position Summary
This self-motivated Team Member must possess the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting with others in multiple departments and disciplines. The team member must possess the ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and internal customers using appropriate scripting and engagement techniques.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and efficient transport of patients to all hospital areas, assessing each patient to determine the most effective method for transport.
- Communicate vital patient information with department managers, group leads, and other team members.
- Meet individual productivity standards established by the department.
- Transport charts and specimens confidentially and efficiently.
- Maintain transportation equipment, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation.
- Use Allscripts Transport Tracking systems effectively.
- Provide outstanding customer service to support the hospital's mission, vision, and values.
- Inform customers, nursing units, and diagnostic departments of delays.
- Store equipment properly to prevent fire and safety hazards.
- Adjust oxygen flow and PSI in oxygen tanks; transfer oxygen regulators as needed.
- Safely remove telemetry units from patients.
- Follow hospital policies on safety, dress code, attendance, punctuality, and ID display.
- Handle work-related information confidentially to comply with HIPAA.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet patient, department, and hospital needs.
- Assist in the distribution and retrieval of clinical and orthopedic equipment.
- Transport and deliver items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and chemotherapy drugs).
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with hospital policies and legal standards.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
- Follow all safety precautions, MSDS, and hand hygiene directives.
- Complete mandatory training and participate in quality assurance activities.
- Demonstrate initiative to improve services and processes.

Qualifications
Education/Training
- Ability to read, recognize word and number differences, and write simple correspondence.
- Access and use department computer systems such as TeleTracking, Outlook, and Allscripts Transport.
- Complete required educational training.
Licensure/Certification
- Possess BLS/HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association, renewed every two years.
Experience
- Experience in a patient care setting or customer service role.
