Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System is seeking a Transporter to safely move patients throughout the facility, including OR, PACU, and outpatient areas. The role requires attention to infection control, safety and accurate communication with surgical and nursing teams.

The position supports OR turnover, equipment handling, and timely delivery of supplies. A High School diploma and BLS certification are required, with CNA experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Previous CNA experience preferred but not required.
• Must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds and operate/move equipment safely.
• Must communicate effectively with clinical and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from OR, PACU, outpatient services, and other areas.
• Move patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including those with oxygen or IV pumps.
• Assist in operating room turnover by cleaning, moving equipment, and restocking supplies.
• Coordinate patient movement and room readiness with surgical, anesthesia, nursing, and support staff.
• Follow infection control, safety, privacy, and hospital protocols during transport.
• Deliver specimens, equipment, and supplies to appropriate departments.
• Observe and report patient concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Current BLS certification

CNA experience (preferred)

Ability to lift/move at least 50 pounds

Strong communication skills

Ability to operate/move equipment safely

How you'll contribute

ARadiology Transporter who excels in this role:

• Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from the Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Outpatient Services, and other designated areas throughout the facility.
• Transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including those requiring oxygen, IV pumps, monitors, and other specialized equipment
• Assist in operating room turnover by cleaning between cases, moving equipment, and restocking supplies
• Communicate effectively with surgical, anesthesia, nursing, and support staff to coordinate patient movement and room readiness.
• Follow strict infection control, safety, patient privacy, and hospital protocols during all transport and room turnover activities.
• Deliver specimens, equipment, and supplies to appropriate departments in a timely manner.
• Observe and report patient concerns, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards to appropriate personnel.

Schedule: Full-Time: Days, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday- Friday.

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Previous CNA experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds and operate/move equipment and supplies safely.
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range; ability to reach overhead, sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and support staff.
• Ability to remain calm, prioritize tasks, and perform effectively in fast-paced or stressful perioperative environments.
