Job summary

Catholic Health in Long Island is seeking a patient transporter to move patients safely between units and beds, assisting transfers to/from x-ray tables and supporting comfort and safety during movement.

Role requires a High School Diploma with BLS certification and 1–2 years of acute care experience; knowledge of proper body mechanics and infection-control practices is essential. This on-site position offers benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • BLS Certification required (American Heart Association).
  • 1–2 years experience in an acute care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transports patients to and from the patient care unit safely.
  • Assists patients on and off x-ray table and in and out of bed as required.
  • Transfers patients in and out of wheelchair as required.
  • Provides for patient comfort and safety during transport.
  • Maintains and practices proper body mechanics.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication method according to age and/or disability.
  • Maintains policies on quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control.

Job Details
Responsibilities
  • Transports patients to and from the patient care unit in a safe manner.
  • Assists patients on and off x-ray table and in and out of bed as required.
  • Transfers patients in and out of wheelchair as required.
  • Provides for patient comfort and safety during transport.
  • Assures integrity of all indwelling catheters during transport.
  • Alerts nursing personnel when patients leaves or is returned to unit.
  • Maintains and practices proper body mechanics.
  • Demonstrates ability in the care and handling of patients in all age groups including, but not limited to, consideration of the special needs and behavior of each respective group.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication method according to age and/or disability.
  • Maintains established departmental/hospital policies and procedures for quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED or relevant experience is required.
  • One to two years’ experience in an acute care facility preferred.
  • BLS Certification required (American Heart Association )
Salary Range

USD $25.59 - USD $25.59 /Hr.
