Job summary

City of Charlotte is seeking a Training Specialist for the Transportation Department (CDOT) to develop and oversee training programs focused on safety, compliance, and employee development. The role collaborates with leadership and the Organizational Development & Learning division to ensure staff receive the knowledge and skills needed for safe, efficient work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent in a related field.
• Master’s degree plus one year of related work experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience developing and delivering employee training; workplace safety training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate CDOT new hire orientation and onboarding.
• Coordinate safety training and employee development programs.
• Develop annual training plans to ensure compliance and organizational needs.
• Coordinate with CDOT Safety Manager to identify training needs.
• Prepare training manuals, SOPs, presentations, videos, and other instructional materials.
• Monitor certification and license expirations; coordinate refresher training.
