Job summary

Stanley Consultants in Chicago, IL is seeking a Student Intern to support the Transportation Traffic team. You will learn basic traffic engineering concepts and assist with signing, pavement markings, signals, roadway lighting, and ITS plans under experienced staff guidance.

You will perform field visits, calculations, drawings checks, and prepare traffic studies using MS Office and traffic software. Local civil engineering students, junior year or higher, are preferred for this part-time onsite

Qualifications

• Must be a college junior and enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program
• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Local (Greater Chicago area) candidates are strongly preferred for a part-time role
• Interest in pursuing a career in traffic engineering

Responsibilities

• Understand engineering studies, drawings, and specifications
• Perform engineering calculations and quantity take-offs
• Operate AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Prepare Traffic Engineering studies using Microsoft Office
• Conduct field visits and gain familiarity with traffic engineering software
• Back-check drawings
