Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,400 professionals, providing engineering, architecture, IT, and related services across the U.S. Ranked #50 on ENR's Top 500 Design Firms, we are seeking a Transportation Technician III for our Construction Management Team in Robbinsville, NC. This role involves supervising transportation construction projects. Please note, this position is not eligible for employer sponsorship except for TN visa classification. Multiple locations within North Carolina are available and can be discussed during the interview.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.
• Supervise and support subordinate inspection staff during construction.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain records such as material certifications, testing reports, and daily diaries.
• Communicate with the public, agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to address inquiries and resolve issues.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Successful completion of JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field, with five years of technician experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience analyzing highway construction plans.
• Ability to apply engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
• Knowledge of DOT Standards, Specifications, and Roadway Standard Drawings.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Density Testing are preferred.
• Experience with local clients is a plus.

Working Conditions

Fieldwork involving outdoor hazards, heights, traffic, and rough terrain. Moderate physical activity required; ability to lift 50 lbs. Night and weekend work may be necessary.
