Our Construction Management Team is seeking a Transportation Technician II to conduct standard inspection procedures on transportation projects in North Carolina, ensuring quality, safety, and conformance to plans and specifications. This position does not qualify for employer sponsorship, except for TN visa classification.

This position is available in multiple North Carolina locations and can be discussed during the interview with the hiring manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction, for compliance with plans and specifications.
• Perform routine material testing.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain records such as material certifications, testing reports, and daily diaries.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills

• Successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.

Required Experience

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field, with at least two years of technician experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Active driver's license.
• Experience analyzing highway construction plans.
• NCDOT certifications such as Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing are preferred.
• Four or more years of construction inspection experience on transportation projects are preferred.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field, requiring safety awareness in outdoor environments with hazards like heights, traffic, and rough terrain. Moderate physical activity is required, including walking, climbing, kneeling, and standing. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work nights/weekends as needed.
