Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to support the Southwest Region Engineering Services Office. You will assist survey crews, cadastral teams, and hydraulics/plan review staff in designing and overseeing highway projects.

You will help ensure compliance with standards, contract specs, and project plans, while improving safety, quality, and capacity of Washington's transportation system.

Qualifications

• Surveying and engineering knowledge applied to transportation projects.
• Applied Right of Way surveying and documentation.
• Proficient with Windows-based computers and MS Office.
• Strong communication of technical information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and in teams with prioritization skills.
• Knowledge of safe working practices in field and traffic environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform survey operations, construction staking, boundary surveys, and right-of-way surveys.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment and manage control networks.
• Interpret plans and data to support staking, grading, and mapping.
• Develop right-of-way documents using OpenRoads and CAD per standards.
• Research deeds and public records to support boundary analysis and project development.
• Analyze survey data and communicate findings to project teams and the public.
• Assist with hydraulic assessments and field inspections as needed.
• Promote safety and adhere to procedures while operating state vehicles.
