Job Overview:

Assist management in supervising drivers and staff within the Transportation Department. Implement schedules, departure times, and daily functions, ensuring efficient coordination of daily changes. Communicate effectively with customers and internal departments as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Route and schedule loads for distribution efficiently using personnel and equipment.
2. Ensure merchandise is delivered in optimal condition.
3. Coordinate with Warehouse personnel for delivery timing.
4. Assign drivers to loads, ensuring compliance with company and DOT guidelines.
5. Maintain good relations with store management via communication and visits.
6. Handle special requests with store personnel.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
8. Process weekly/monthly DOT mileage reports.
9. Perform driver road testing, training, and qualifications.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Previous experience or formal training in transportation, preferably in the grocery industry.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of material handling equipment and traffic management, including truck and rail deliveries.
• Good understanding of government transportation regulations.
• Leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate others.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access.
• Strong analytical skills and mental alertness for administrative duties.
• Good judgment and ability to work independently at times.
