Job summary

McKesson Corporation in Raleigh, NC seeks a Transportation Leader to oversee the daily operations of the transportation team, ensuring efficient delivery of goods and strict safety adherence. Tentative shift: Mon-Fri, 5/6a start time.

You’ll supervise drivers, plan routes, monitor performance, and maintain records while coordinating with warehousing and customer service to maintain seamless logistics. Competitive compensation and total rewards apply.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, federal motor carrier safety regulations, and other relevant transportation laws.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. CDL preferred.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and dispatch routes for inbound and outbound shipments, optimizing for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor driver performance, including adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance (e.g., DOT).
  • Investigate and resolve transportation‑related issues, such as delivery delays, damages, or customer complaints.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, including driver logs, mileage reports, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with warehousing, inventory, and customer service departments to ensure seamless logistics operations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections and coordinate maintenance and repairs to ensure fleet reliability.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures related to transportation operations.
  • Participate in the hiring, performance evaluation, and disciplinary processes for transportation staff.
