Job summary

Rocky Mountain Health Care Services in Colorado Springs is seeking a Transportation Specialist I to safely transport frail and elderly participants to the RMHCS center and medical appointments. You will maintain clean vehicles, perform routine checks, and support participants with courteous service.

Responsibilities include safe driving with defensive skills, assisting participants, documenting safety checks, coordinating with dispatch, and supporting the team during appointments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Experience with frail, elderly, or disabled population is highly desired.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Drives vehicles safely using defensive driving skills and follows assigned routes.
  • Loads/unloads participants safely and escorts them on/off the bus.
  • Maintains vehicle cleanliness and reports safety issues immediately.
  • Notifies dispatcher of delays, cancellations, and transportation needs.
  • Assists participants at appointments and in home environments as needed.
  • Maintains accurate notes and documentation of transport activities.

POSITION SUMMARY: Transportation Specialist I is responsible for providing transportation services for the frail and elderly participants from their homes to the Rocky Mountain Health Care Services (RMHCS) center and for medical appointments. Transportation Specialist I must maintain clean vehicles, and perform vehicle checks regularly for safety.MISSION: Improving lives, Optimizing wellness, Promoting independenceRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Drives vehicles in a safe and responsible manner utilizing defensive driving skills and follow assigned routes. This includes smooth breaking, and acceleration, taking bumps or curves at a reasonable speed, etc.Loads and unloads participants in and out of vehicles safely following correct Policies and ProceduresEscorts participants safely from the bus thru door and back on to the bus utilizing all safety training, safety equipment and skillsEnsures the proper securement of the participants inside the vehicle and while unloading using the proper safety equipment and proceduresNotifies Dispatcher if running late on a pickup or routeNotifies Appropriate staff of all cancels and reason whyTransports participants to scheduled appointments as arranged by the dispatcherAssists participants in their home environment or other locations with tasks when necessary (i.e.: put on socks, shoes, jackets, etc.)Maintains clean vehicle, by regularly sweeping floors, cleaning glass, cleaning exterior, etc.Maintains safe working environment to include maintaining a safe vehicle by ensuring all aspects of the vehicle are in top working condition, documenting all deficiencies on the DVIR and reporting any safety issues immediately to Transportation ManagementWorks with Transportation Management to schedule maintenance or repairs of vehiclesNotifies dispatcher of any participant transportation needs, noted participant concerns, or issues observed in the participants housesAssists participants at appointments or other assigned outings, as neededMust remain patient and maintain good customer service, supporting the Rocky Mountain Way, when working with dispatcher, supervisors, participants or customers either internal or externalRequired to maintain detailed notes and documentation, submitting documentation timelyPerforms other duties as requested/assignedHigh School Diploma or GED is required. Equivalent experience in lieu of education will be acceptedExperience working with the frail, elderly or disabled population highly desiredMust be 21 years of age or olderExperience driving large vehicles highly desiredMust have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customersMust have a current Colorado Drivers License and driving record must be in compliance with Company policy.
