Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Service Technician

SUPERVISOR: Transportation Director

JOB SUMMARY: Focus on Students, Safety, and Service while ensuring that school buses are well maintained

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performing preventative maintenance according to a pre-determined schedule
  • Inspecting buses multiple times per year to ensure that district buses are maintained to the highest level
  • Assisting in the preparation of the fleet for the annual State Highway Patrol Inspection
  • Changing oil, filters, filling fluids, and lubricating buses
  • Maintaining service records for district vehicles
  • Being responsible for district-owned tools and equipment
  • Assisting in cleaning the shop as needed
  • Substitute driving routes as necessary
  • Arriving for work on time according to the assigned schedule
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed
  • Completing any and all reasonable duties/responsibilities as delegated/directed by the transportation director.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
  • School district paid, health, vision, dental, and retirement system match, 200 days of 1 hour guaranteed overtime, 60 days of 8 hour days during the summer, paid sick and vacation leave
  • Pay: $17- $25 per hour depending upon experience
Education
  • High school diploma/ GED (Required)
  • Possess or able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver License (Minimum of Class B with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus Endorsements)
Skills
  • Ability to relate well to students and adults by treating them with dignity and respect
  • Providing professional interactions with parents and community members
  • Ability to pass an annual physical examination, to lift 50 lbs, and to evacuate the bus in an emergency
