Transportation Security Officers

Transportation Security Officers are responsible for providing security and protection of travelers across all transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner. Their duties may also extend to securing high-profile events, important figures, and anything that impacts our transportation systems. Qualifications

1. Experience: At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician.
2. OR Education: High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC high school equivalency certificate.

Note: Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Volunteer experience through National Service programs or other organizations is also credited.

Additional Requirements

• Travel: Occasional travel may be required for training and other duties.
• Selective Service Registration: Verification required for male applicants born after 12/31/59.
• Credit Check: Applicants must not have delinquent taxes or child support payments.
• Residency: Must have resided in the U.S. for three of the last five years, with some exceptions.
• Reemployed Annuitants: May have salary reduced due to pension.
• Dress Code: Must adhere to TSA dress and appearance standards, including covering tattoos and body piercings as specified.
• Work Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Employment Maintenance: Must maintain certification, pass background checks, and drug screenings.

No travel expenses are paid by TSA for application or employment-related travel. This is not a law enforcement position and does not include law enforcement benefits.
