Job summary

Head Start Child Development Program, Inc. seeks a Transportation and Safety Manager to coordinate daily routes, safety protocols, and health compliance across multiple sites. You will supervise transportation staff, liaise with service providers, and maintain records in GoEngage.

You will develop individualized safety plans, conduct emergency drills, and ensure logs, permits, and health procedures meet Head Start requirements. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in health services, early childhood education, human services, business administration, transportation operations, or a related field.
• At least two years of related experience in health, safety, transportation, early childhood, or human-services operations.
• Prior supervisory experience and ability to coordinate staff, schedules, and workflows.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification—or ability to obtain within the required time frame.
• Strong organization, record keeping, data-audit, communication, and follow-through skills.
• Proficiency with electronic record keeping systems, email, spreadsheets, and standard office applications.
• Ability to complete required background checks, health requirements, and job-related training; valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record if driving is assigned.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily routes, schedules, seating charts, passenger logs, attendance records, field trips, service changes, and cancellations.
• Serve as the primary contact for the contracted transportation provider and address service or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain child safety seats, emergency transportation backpacks, required rescue-medication procedures, and transportation supply inventories.
• Develop individualized transportation safety plans with the Director of Health and Safety, families, and relevant departments.
• Schedule and document emergency bus evacuation drills at least three times per year and ensure required logs and safety checks are completed.
• Supervise the Bus Monitor and other assigned staff, including scheduling, onboarding, coaching, training, and performance feedback.
• Audit health data and follow-up needs; maintain accurate health and transportation records, health care plans, and consent forms in GoEngage.
• Prepare family follow-up communications, track screening equipment service dates, order health supplies, and support wellness initiatives and department training.
