Midwest Refrigerated Services, Inc. in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a Transportation Safety Manager to lead safety for the Transportation division. The role oversees driver training, accident investigation, CSA scores, and compliance with Hours of Service and Federal Regulations.

Strong DOT/FMCSRs knowledge and safety leadership are essential. The position reports to the Vice President of Transportation Operations and requires collaboration across operations, insurance, and compliance teams.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree preferred, not required
• 5 years minimum Safety and regulatory compliance work in asset-based trucking
• 2 years minimum associate management experience

Responsibilities

• Maintain driver training and ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations
• Oversee Accident Investigation process and monitor CSA scores
• Review Hours of Service and ensure compliance with Federal Regulations
• Conduct quarterly safety meetings for drivers and driver counseling
• Coordinate driver training and continuous education, including the SMITH System
• Yearly FMCSA and insurance reporting; regulatory reviews (HOS, CSA scores)
• Oversee Omnitracs system usage and success
• Work to reduce risk costs to the enterprise

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 45 hours per week, based on needs of business

The Transportation Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing safety for the Transportation division of Midwest Refrigerated Services – MRT.

General Responsibilities include:

• Maintain all driver training and ensure that all operational activities are in compliance with all State and Federal rules & regulations.
• Oversee and manage the Accident Investigation process
• Monitor and manage CSA scores
• Monitor, review, and address Hours of Service for each driver to ensure continuous compliance with Federal Regulations.
• Quarterly Safety Meetings for drivers
• Conduct driver counseling regarding infractions of rules and procedures
• Driver training and remedial training – Start training on the SMITH System
• Coordinate and conduct training and continuous education for drivers
• Yearly reporting – FMCSA and insurance
• Regulatory reviews – HOS, CSA Scores
• Omnitracs – system use and success
• Overall reduction in risk cost to the enterprise

Skills Required:

• Proficient knowledge and understanding of DOT rules and regulations as well as FMCSRs
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite

Prerequisites:

• 4-year degree preferred not required
• 5 years minimum Safety and regulatory compliance work in Asset based trucking firm
• 2 years minimum associate Management

Performance Measurements:

• Accidents per Million miles (Preventable / Non preventable / Recordable / Non-Recordable)
• Claims costs YOY and frequency
