Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to support the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Transportation Investment Act (TIA) Program. This position will oversee the delivery of Heart of Georgia Altamaha TIA 2 Program (2023-2032) projects and serve as a key liaison between GDOT, local governments, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle.

This position is based in Georgia and requires close collaboration with GDOT, local agencies, and project teams to ensure successful program execution, schedule adherence, and budget management.

Remote work location option.

About the Role

As a Transportation Project Manager supporting the TIA Team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the delivery of transportation projects throughout the Heart of Georgia Altamaha region. The successful candidate will oversee project progress, facilitate stakeholder engagement, monitor schedules and budgets, and ensure compliance with GDOT policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience in GDOT roadway construction, maintenance, pavement management, or transportation program delivery and possess strong project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
Program and Project Management
  • Manage the delivery of all Heart of Georgia Altamaha TIA 2 (2023-2032) transportation projects.
  • Lead weekly coordination meetings with GDOT, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
  • Track the progress of GDOT-let design and construction projects and identify potential risks or schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate with local governments regarding the status and delivery of locally let transportation projects.
Contract and Financial Management
  • Develop resurfacing bid packages for GDOT-let projects.
  • Review and approve resurfacing bid packages prepared by local governments.
  • Review and approve consultant and local government invoices for compliance, accuracy, and contract requirements.
  • Assist with program reporting, budget tracking, and project documentation.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between GDOT, local governments, consultants, and other program stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and resolution of project issues among project teams.
  • Support the successful implementation of transportation improvement projects throughout the region.
Leadership and Oversight
  • Manage one or more moderately complex transportation projects involving: Multiple stakeholders and agencies. Regional geographic coordination. Projects requiring oversight of design, construction, maintenance, and resurfacing activities.
  • May manage all phases of project delivery, from project initiation through closeout.
  • Provide guidance and coordination to technical staff, consultants, and project support personnel.
  • Receive technical direction on complex issues while operating with a high degree of independence in day-to-day project management activities.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Transportation, or a related field, plus 4 years of roadway construction, transportation project management, maintenance, or related experience; or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Experience coordinating with government agencies, consultants, contractors, and local stakeholders.
  • Experienced in organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred
  • GDOT roadway construction, maintenance, or transportation program management experience.
  • Experience managing transportation improvement or capital programs.
  • Knowledge of GDOT project development and delivery processes.
  • Experience with pavement condition evaluation and pavement management programs.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and administering resurfacing bid packages.
  • Familiarity with transportation funding programs, including Transportation Investment Act (TIA) projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

  • Relocation is not an option for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $90000 to $120000.
