Job summary

Tighe & Bond, in Westfield, MA, seeks a Project Manager 1 to lead multidisciplinary transportation projects in the Northeast. You’ll manage roadways, collaborate with DOTs and municipalities, and guide projects from concept to construction within a hybrid work setting.

The role emphasizes strong client relationships, design coordination, and leadership of design teams to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure on schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in roadway design.
• Strong understanding of DOT design standards, manuals, and specifications.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and project schedules.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead client meetings and public presentations.

Responsibilities

• Manage roadway design projects for municipal and DOT clients, including reconstruction, resurfacing, safety improvements, and intersection redesign.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including municipal agencies and DOT, maintaining relationships and ensuring service excellence.
• Lead development of construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project reports for roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and traffic features.
• Supervise internal design teams and coordinate with subconsultants and specialists across disciplines.
• Oversee permitting processes and ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT design standards.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.
• Provide technical oversight during construction, including shop drawing reviews and site visits.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Lead proposal preparation and interviews for municipal and state roadway opportunities.
