Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Transportation Project Manager to join our Transportation Practice. The role will design, manage, and lead roadway design teams for projects locally and nationally from Dallas or Austin offices.

You will manage business development, scope/fee development, staffing, design, project oversight, quality, and financial performance. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of related experience and a Texas PE or ability to obtain soon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related degree from accredited program.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience.
• Texas Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within six months.
• Past roadway design and project management experience for municipal and DOT clients.
• Client contacts with TxDOT and/or municipalities preferred.
• General business and financial calculation knowledge, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of transportation design guides including AASHTO Greenbook, Roadside Design Guide, MUTCD.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment with overtime on short notice.
• Ability to work collaboratively with owners, contractors, engineers, designers in multi-disciplined teams.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety programs, trainings, and policies; promote Safety & Health performance of team and subcontractors.
• Serve as a project manager for transportation infrastructure projects for local/state/federal governments, utilities and planning organizations.
• Lead contract preparation and negotiation; coordinate with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, scheduling; establish project objectives.
• Build and manage relationships with clients, customers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with multi-discipline team to design and manage roadway and site development projects including geometric design and drainage.
• Lead development of cost proposals and qualification statements to meet targets and standards.
• Provide project management, leadership, mentorship, and instruction to teams.
• Prepare and present for clients and industry events to build personal and company brand.
