City of Overland Park invites applications for Transportation Project Inspector I, II, or Senior. This employee position conducts inspections of traffic control devices on City projects, including street lights, traffic signals, ITS infrastructure, pavement markings and related installations.

You will review plans, respond to citizen inquiries, prepare progress reports and approve invoices, assist with as-built archiving, and support emergency operations as needed.

Qualifications

• Reviews construction plans and contract documents to ensure compliance with city codes, plans and specifications.
• Responds to project related citizen inquiries.
• Prepares project progress reports, contractor pay estimates, and approves contractor invoices.
• Assists with as-built plan archiving and related data entry.
• Assists in emergency operations, including snow removal, as required.

Responsabilités

• Inspects traffic control devices installations on City projects including street lights, signals, ITS infrastructure and pavement markings.
• Inspects and coordinates with contractor crews to ensure conformance to plans and specifications.
• Verifies dimensions, alignment, and subgrade against plans; notifies contractors of corrections.
• Stakes locations of proposed equipment and reviews contractor stakes for conformance.
• Visits project sites to interpret plans and resolve construction conflicts with the project engineer.
