Job summary

Benesch is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to join our established Roadway team. You will lead design efforts, review plans and specifications, and mentor junior staff on municipal and state transportation projects.

The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, practical problem solving, and delivering high-quality documentation while supporting client goals and compliance. A flexible hybrid schedule is available with offices in Omaha, Bellevue, Lincoln, and Grand Island, NE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required or higher.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain upon hire preferred.
• Project experience in transportation engineering design preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team on challenging projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Local and State public agency clients (Public Works, DOTs).
• Proficient with Microstation Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs of urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final design.
• Collaborate with team members, communities, and stakeholders to define data needs and outputs.
• Coordinate plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items.
• Support studies and alternative analyses to meet client goals and compliance.
• Work with multiple disciplines to ensure complete, accurate deliverables.
• Contribute to proposal development and win work.
• Assist Project Managers on delivering large projects and manage tasks and documentation.
