Qualifications

This position supports regional planning and programming efforts that guide transportation investments and major project decisions. It plays a key role in preparing information for committees and management. As a Transportation Planning Specialist 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Regional Coordination: Coordinate with Metropolitan Planning Organization and district staff to support decisions on transportation plans and programs
• Program Management: Prepare and present status updates, funding tables, and briefings for committees and management
• Plan Development: Support the creation and review of Transportation Improvement Programs, Unified Planning Work Programs, and long-range transportation plans

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Transportation Planning Specialist 1; or
• Two years of professional transportation planning or transportation programming experience, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
• Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
• Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower class by the posting closing date with no break in service.
