As a Transportation Community Relations Coordinator 1 with the Department of Transportation, you will help residents stay aware of projects that affect their neighborhoods. This position offers fast-paced communication work and meaningful collaboration with many partners. It is an opportunity to support a mission that strengthens safety and trust across the region.

This position supports communication efforts across the Philadelphia region by sharing information about transportation projects, safety initiatives, and public concerns. It requires strong outreach skills and an ability to explain complex topics to many audiences. As a Transportation Community Relations Coordinator 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Media Outreach: Serve as a spokesperson and share project updates with news outlets
• Informational Materials: Prepare content for legislators, the public, and staff across the region
• Early Alerts: Identify potential issues and notify leadership promptly
• Internal Communication: Create and distribute in-house materials on transportation matters
• Public Engagement: Plan and support events and meetings involving officials and community members

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,008 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years of public relations work experience promoting programs through the mass media, or community organizing experience; and a bachelor’s degree; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
