AtkinsRéalis seeks a Transportation Planning Intern in Orlando, FL. You will perform data collection and field reviews for traffic studies and assist with urban planning tasks under supervision.

The internship emphasizes traffic operations, safety, and planning with exposure to multiple software tools. The role targets juniors, seniors, or post-graduate students who will have completed at least 60 hours toward a civil engineering degree by Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Junior/Senior or Post-Graduate students
• Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
• Interest in Traffic Operations, Safety, or Planning. Experience with HCM, Synchro, HCS+, or VISSIM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical and investigative tasks including traffic and crash data collection and data management.
• Perform field review of project study areas, such as pedestrian and bicycle demand/use studies, signal operations reviews, and traffic circulation studies
• Assist with the technical tasks involved in urban and corridor planning studies and the documentation associated with governmental acceptance.
• Assist with signal retiming, traffic impact studies, corridor planning studies, and highway safety studies, and
• Perform traffic operations/engineering and capacity analysis on roadway networks for intersections, corridors, and regional networks
• Assist with design alternatives for improving safety and operations of intersections, corridors, and networks.

Your Role

• SPECIAL SKILLS: Interests in Traffic Operations, Safety, or Planning. Experience with HCM, Synchro, HCS+, or VISSIM preferred.

Additional Information

Expected compensation range is between $25 - $31 hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
