Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in San Antonio seeks a Transportation Engineer II, III or IV to design and oversee schematics, feasibility studies and traffic analyses for regional transportation projects. The role spans environmental processes, project programming and public involvement in a dynamic, growing area.

The position offers progression from Engineer II to IV with increasing responsibilities in planning, design and coordination with agencies and consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Valid driver’s license; position requires driving a state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in planning, project development and design, construction, traffic operations and maintenance.
• Negotiates fees, explains scope of work and monitors consultant design contracts.
• Performs complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and assisting in transportation planning studies.
• Represents the district/division at technical meetings and public hearings at local, state, federal and international levels.
• Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.
• Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.
• Reviews, processes and certifies project design plans developed by consulting engineers.
• Schedules, coordinates and prepares documents for public hearings.
• Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for transportation projects.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
