Job summary

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Planner in Oakland, CA. You will manage complex transit studies, conduct environmental clearances, and lead analyses leveraging GIS, Python, and Power BI to support regional planning.

The role requires an urban/transportation planning background with 6–8 years of experience or a relevant Master's with 6 years. Hybrid option with potential travel and CEC/NEPA expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Environmental Planning and Policy, Environmental Engineering, or related field with 8 years of experience
• Alternative: Master's degree with 6 years of experience in Transportation/Environmental planning
• Experience with GIS analysis and environmental clearance (NEPA/CEQA)
• Experience presenting to public sector agencies and elected officials

Responsibilities

• Manage and direct complex transit and multimodal studies including feasibility analyses and environmental clearance
• Lead advanced technical analyses and develop recommendations for transit plans
• Conduct transportation and traffic impact analyses for regional planning
• Support neighborhood planning, outreach efforts, and air quality improvements
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present findings to advisory boards
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring for staff and project teams
• Lead proposal strategies and client interactions
• Perform peer reviews and share knowledge through internal presentations
• Travel up to 5% domestically; telecommute up to 3 days/week; obtain PTP certification within 6 months
