Bowman in Chicago, IL is seeking an Engineer III, Transportation Planner to join our team. The role focuses on executing complex transportation engineering tasks, improving livability, and reducing congestion across multimodal projects.

You will lead tasks, mentor junior staff, prepare reports and graphics, coordinate with clients and agencies, and help develop planning-level solutions while ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Five or more (5+) years of professional engineering experience with an emphasis on transportation engineering or related field.
• EIT Registration required, or alternatively, six or more (6+) years of successful transportation engineering experience required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six (6) months preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Lead with client and outside agency communication and attend project/public meetings.
• Prepare maps and graphics for public and client meetings, data analysis, field reviews, and data collection.
• Lead in the preparation of proposals and grant applications.
• Develop engineering plans and reports for projects.
• Coordinate and conduct field visits for data collection and site observations.
• Mentor junior staff and provide QA/QC oversight.
