Job summary

Corporate Resources of Illinois is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner for our client in Des Plaines, IL. The role focuses on planning outbound shipments, coordinating with freight carriers, and ensuring on-time delivery using a Transportation Management System.

Candidates will manage load scheduling, routing, and carrier relations while maintaining accurate records and communicating with customers and internal teams. A strong background in logistics and problem-solving is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in transportation planning, freight coordination, or logistics coordination.
• Hands-on experience planning and coordinating both LTL and TL shipments.
• Experience using a Transportation Management System (TMS).
• Experience working with freight carriers and coordinating customer shipments.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily outbound LTL and TL shipments, including multi-stop loads and freight consolidations.
• Evaluate shipment details, freight requirements, and delivery windows for efficient arrangements.
• Ensure shipments are accurately rated, scheduled, and assigned to carriers.
• Monitor load utilization, transit times, pickups, and delivery schedules to keep orders on track.
• Negotiate scheduling needs with freight carriers and resolve transportation issues.
• Serve as a point of contact for customers and internal teams on shipment status.
• Utilize the Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage shipment activity and records.

We're a growing food and beverage manufacturer with over 40 years in the business. Our products reach consumers through some of the country's best-known grocery retailers, regional chains, and foodservice distributors. Operating out of four U.S. locations, we've built a well-established distribution network and move product to customers across the country. We're looking to add a Senior Transportation Planner who can help keep that operation running efficiently as our business continues to grow.

What You'll Do

• Plan and coordinate daily outbound LTL and TL shipments, including multi-stop loads and freight consolidations to maximize available capacity.
• Evaluate shipment details, freight requirements, and customer delivery windows to determine the most efficient shipping arrangements.
• Ensure shipments are accurately rated, scheduled, and assigned to the appropriate carriers.
• Monitor load utilization, transit times, pickup appointments, and delivery schedules to keep orders on track.
• Work directly with freight carriers to negotiate scheduling needs, confirm pickups, track shipments, and resolve transportation issues.
• Serve as a point of contact for customers and internal teams regarding shipment schedules, delivery updates, and transportation-related questions.
• Utilize the company's Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage shipment activity, maintain accurate records, and support transportation planning.
