Job summary

State of Vermont in Londonderry, VT is hiring a Transportation Operations Technician II to perform highway maintenance duties including repair work, vegetation control, and litter pickup. In winter, the role may require plowing and salting with overtime as needed, and may include maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

Minimum qualifications include construction or equipment experience, CDL with tanker endorsement (or progression to CDL after probation), and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor.
• Either one season of operating a snowplow with wings or six months operating medium/heavy equipment such as graders/excavators/backhoes.
• CDL with tanker endorsement or possession of Class A CDL after probation.

Responsibilities

• Repair guardrails and patch roads as needed.
• Cut trees/brush and pick up litter along roadways.
• Ditch and drainage maintenance; assist with roadside vegetation control.
• Assist in winter plowing and salting during snow events; overtime may be required.
• Assist in vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed.
