Job summary

State of Vermont’s Agency of Transportation seeks a Transportation Operations Technician II in Canaan, VT. This role involves highway maintenance tasks such as repairing guardrails, clearing brush, patching roads, litter pickup, ditching, and seasonal plowing/salting with potential overtime.

Applicants should have 1 year of manual labor experience or equivalent, a Class B CDL (Class A with Tanker Endorsement within 6 months), and a HS diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• One year of work experience in construction, equipment operation, or related manual labor.
• Class B CDL required; Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within six months.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to overtime and outdoor weather exposure.

Responsibilities

• Repair guardrails, cut trees/brush, patch roads, and pick litter.
• Ditching and other maintenance tasks as assigned.
• Assist with snowplowing and salting during winter and overtime as required.
• Assist in vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed.
