Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Transportation Supervisor to oversee facility transportation operations and personnel.

You will help schedule officers, ensure detainee safety, and assist when needed in the absence of the Transportation Supervisor or Manager. Responsibilities include training officers, coordinating assignments, maintaining vehicle readiness, handling incident reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance with DOT and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must meet all Transportation Officer qualifications.
• One year transportation experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Valid proper class motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must possess a State Firearms License.
• Must possess a State Security Guard License.
• Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements for Hours of Service and Vehicle inspections.
• Ability to set standards and procedures to establish satisfactory levels of performance, quality and productivity.
• Ability to coordinate the demands of the transportation operations
• Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem solving techniques.
• Sound and effective leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively train staff.
• Ability to write reports, memorandum, policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist Transportation Supervisor or Manager in training Transportation Officers on policies and procedures.
• Schedule Transportation Officers work assignments.
• Monitor Transportation Officers during prep, leaving, and return to ensure care and custody of detainees.
• Ensure maintenance schedules and repairs of all assigned vehicles; review defects and ensure compliance.
• Investigate and report on accidents involving Transportation Officers.
• Transport detainees in emergencies or when needed.
• Issue orders for vehicle departures per posted schedules.
• Ensure semi-annual weapons qualifications are current.
• Maintain DOT files and complete monthly billings.
• Attend hours of transport/regulatory topics and network with authorities.
• May perform duties of Transportation Supervisor or Manager when absent.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
